Terms of Service
The rules of the road for using GeoHiders.
Welcome to GeoHiders. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the GeoHiders website at geohiders.com and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or playing GeoHiders, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By visiting the website, joining a room, or otherwise interacting with the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. License to Use the Service
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, GeoHiders grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial entertainment. This license does not include the right to:
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or any part of it.
- Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of the Service.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, headless browsers) to interact with the Service without prior written permission.
- Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use GeoHiders only for lawful purposes and in a way that respects other players. You will not:
- Harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against any other player based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Use offensive, obscene, sexually explicit, or violent language in nicknames, clues, or chat messages.
- Cheat, exploit bugs, or use external tools (third-party Street View identifiers, reverse-image lookups, etc.) to gain an unfair advantage.
- Share or solicit personal information (real names, addresses, phone numbers) of other players.
- Attempt to overload, disrupt, or compromise the Service's servers, including via denial-of-service attacks, mass automated requests, or attempts to bypass rate limits.
- Use the Service to violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
We reserve the right to remove players, terminate sessions, or block IP addresses that violate these rules, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.
4. User-Generated Content
The Service allows you to type clues, chat messages, and select Street View locations. You retain ownership of the content you create, but by submitting it through GeoHiders you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display that content to other players in your room for the duration of the game session. We do not store, archive, or reuse this content after a session ends.
You are solely responsible for the content you submit. Do not submit anything that infringes a third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
5. Intellectual Property
The GeoHiders name, logo, game design, source code, written content, visual design, and all other materials on the Service (excluding Google Maps / Street View imagery, which is owned by Google) are the intellectual property of Adarsh Chauhan and/or the GeoHiders project. All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are reserved.
Map and Street View imagery is provided through the Google Maps Platform and remains subject to Google's terms. You may not download, redistribute, or commercially exploit any imagery sourced from Google through GeoHiders.
6. Advertisements
GeoHiders is supported by advertising delivered through Google AdSense. By using the Service, you acknowledge that ads may be shown during your visit, and that those ads may be personalized based on your browsing history in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Google's policies. We are not responsible for the content of advertisements served by third parties.
7. Service Availability
GeoHiders is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We make reasonable efforts to keep the Service running, but we do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation.
- Compatibility with every browser, device, or network configuration.
- Availability of any specific feature, Street View location, or game mode at any given time.
- That bugs, defects, or other issues will be fixed within any particular timeframe.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GEOHIDERS AND ITS OPERATORS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL GEOHIDERS, ITS OPERATORS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF REVENUE, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
Because GeoHiders is provided free of charge, the total cumulative liability of GeoHiders to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed one hundred US dollars (US $100).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GeoHiders and its operators from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law) shall survive.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.
